EU-funded SISSAF takes part in the 6th Beirut Energy Forum

SISSAF at the BEF in 2014 with H.E Mr. Arthur Nazarian

The European Union funded 'Support Programme for Infrastructure Sector Strategies and Alternative Financing' (SISSAF) will take part in the 6th International Beirut Energy Forum (6th I-BEF) for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. The forum will take place from 9-11 September at Le Royal Hotel – Dbaye under the patronage of H.E. Minister of Energy and Water Mr. Arthur Nazarian.

Apart from participating actively in one of the forum's sessions, SISSAF will also be present at the common booth for EU-funded projects. Along with the EU-funded CES-MED and MED-ENEC, SISSAF is nominated for this year's Lebanon Energy Ambassador 2015 award, whose winner will be announced during the forum. The I-BEF, organised annually and considered one of the most reputable and professional events in the energy sector in the Middle East, is specifically dedicated to Sustainable Energy issues and projects. It attracts key actors of the energy sector from Lebanon, the Arab World, and beyond.

This year the forum will cover the following topics:

  • Landmark projects in sustainable energy and their financing.
  • The National Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Action (NEEREA).
  • Energy security and regional cooperation in the Arab region.
  • The role of banks in financing energy projects in Lebanon.
  • Smart solutions for the industrial sector.
  • Role of municipalities in the development of energy efficiency.
  • The road to Paris COP21 (Paris Climate Conference) and national targets for 2030.

The EU-funded SISSAF Programme is also playing a key role in the production and dissemination of the "Save Energy Lebanon" awareness campaign that has been kicked off recently with TV ads, an informative Facebook page, a YOUTUBE channel and a webpage.
