A traffic model for the entire land transport sector in Lebanon presented on a workshop at the MPWT in Beirut

A workshop on “Comprehensive Traffic Modelling for the Lebanese Land Transport Network” was organised by the EU-funded SISSAF project in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on 21 January 2016 at the Radisson Blu Martinez Hotel in Beirut.

The new model covers the entire territory of Lebanon enabling the contribution to the Governmental planning. This traffic model was prepared with the support of the European Union, and it is the first time such an initiative has been launched in Lebanon.

Delegates from ministries, representatives of the national authorities and municipalities involved in the land transport sector in Lebanon took part in the workshop, the purpose of which was to explain the methodology underpinning the new Traffic Model established at DGLMT.

This model developed by SISSAF has been welcomed as one of the most important tools in the Transport Sector, and represents a significant step forward. The Model will be made available to institutions and authorities to further enhance the administrative coordination for its implementation.
