Water Sector study tour carried out by SISSAF in Mannheim, Germany

A Lebanese high level delegation in the Water Sector started a study tour in Mannheim, Germany on 17th May, 2015. The first day the group had a presentation on leak detection and its equipment.

On the second day, a field visit to a Water valves producer took place. Different types of valves and manufacturing sets were presented by the producer. It was a very informative and interactive field visit.

The Water Sector study tour carried out by SISSAF on May 19th, 2015 had as main objective the exchange of know-how on the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). Through the establishment of a reliable centralized monitoring and control facilities, all units belonging to a water supply system, from the water source to the distribution network, spread out over large areas, can be managed.

The application of SCADA was explained at the control center of the water treatment plant Käfertal, one of the two plants that supplies drinking water to the German city of Mannheim and its surroundings (totaling of 380,000 inhabitants).
